"Urban Collage" at Tory Folliard Gallery, Milwaukee Jan-Feb 2012
These are six new Vintage Ephemera Collage on show at the fantastic Tory Folliard gallery in Milwaukee during the month of January and early February 2012. Four of the collages are views of Milwaukee and two are views of Chicago...
My grandfather was the Blue Dahlia on Hawley Rd. during the late 50's and early 60's. Unfortunately he went bankrupt, living a little too large. He had season baseball tickets reserved behind homeplate and two painted station wagons regularily hauling patrons back and forth. I have many autographs from Braves and Packers from that era, including a baseball with the champion Braves including Henry Aaron...authentic! My dad helped run it. They had a large dance floor and usually a jazz dance band. I remember my dad kept the organ they used, a Hammond B3 with the Leslie Wurlitzer. My great-grandfather had a tavern on the corner of 6th and Grand (Wisconsin), which is now where the hotel water park is.
Painter, collage artist, obsessive collector of ephemera and even more obsessive photographer of the everyday, including documentary street photography and portraits. Born and raised in London and now living with wife Gabrielle and son Jonathan in the desert city of Tucson in Arizona. Has exhibited for many years with The Cynthia Corbett Gallery in London and more recently with Eric Firestone Gallery, Cheryl Hazan Gallery, Andrea Schwartz Gallery and Sue Greenwood Fine Art in America....
